Succession planning is perhaps the most overlooked aspects of business planning.  With too little time in the day to run the daily operation of the business, who has time to think about the next generation taking over?  Perhaps it is the thought that we are no longer needed which causes the procratination to planning this vital aspect of our businesses.

As accountants we are constantly encouraged to wave the "whose going to take over when you're gone" flag infront of our clients.

The new Companies Act affects companies with accounting periods commencing on or after 6 April 2008.  The changes include

- increase in  small company threshold

- reduction in filing deadlines

- changes in directors' transactions
