The President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIoT), Vincent Oratore, has been reported as saying that the current methods for shaping tax laws were "deeply flawed."
According to the Institute, a key part could be played by a new Joint Committee on Taxation, which would bring togeher MPs and peers to form a new body to provide improved scrutiny of tax legislation.
The institute argues that such a committee, having the backing of strong professional staff, could play an important role in reducing the amount of badly constructed laws.
This new committee would hopefully reduce the current situation where some taxpayers have unintended opportunities to avoid tax while others face unintended losses. |
